Bird Lure Lands Double Bass In One Cast
Is it luck or technique for this bird lure to land double in one cast?
No angler can be unaware of a largemouth bass‘ appetite. The highly sought-after game fish will gobble up anything they can get in their mouths, from minnows, bluegills to shad and even other bass sometimes, insects, crawfish and frogs. Even smaller animals like mice or birds may get caught in their sights when in the vicinity of a bass.
This makes one wonder why there aren’t more lure designs inspired by bird prey? To satisfy this curiosity, the Fish Whisperer decided to delve deeper into this idea and try out a topwater bird lure. To his surprise, he manages to catch two bass with just one cast! This impressive cast happens around the three-minute mark if you’re pressed for time.
It’s clear that after watching that video, we’re sold on this lure. Talk about an action-packed video! These bass couldn’t get enough of this lure’s topwater action. Sometimes it’s just a matter of throwing something the fish haven’t seen before to find success on a slow day. Regardless of the size of the fish, a double catch would have made my day regardless of the size of the fish.
We were impressed by the number of bites he had near the kayak he was fishing from. Evidently, the fish were ravenous, and he had the perfect lure and technique for this circumstance. It’s a sign that you know what you’re doing when two creatures get landed on your lure at once but sometimes it can also be luck given by the bass gods, but we will give him kudos on that still impressed.
This has us questioning how effective using lures resembling native birds in our home waters would be. Maybe there is an untapped niche of lure-making that many producers are neglecting due to their focus on usual bass prey items.
