Fishermen Make Epic Rescue 20 Miles Out at Sea
Sometimes in life, we’re hit with an unexpected moment. And that’s exactly what happened here for two fishermen off the Florida coast who randomly encountered an adorable owl that had gotten lost about 20 miles out at sea.
The moment was too incredible not to capture on camera, and when posted online, it gained the attention of 2.6 million people.
The story begins with an auburn-colored owl perched precariously on the thin end of their rod in picturesque scenery near Sarasota. Strong winds battered the bird as it spread its wings sporadically to keep its balance while one of the fishermen shouted: ‘you’re a little lost, homeboy!’
His companion captured this surreal moment on camera and later shared it with his sister Paige Galdieri who then put it up on TikTok where it quickly went viral amongst viewers everywhere.

The footage cuts to show one fisherman cradling his feathered friend wrapped in a towel in his arms as their motorboat speeds back towards shore.
As they approach land, he stretches his arm out while holding onto the bird before finally letting go so that it could fly free into the air above glittering turquoise waters towards land nearby – eliciting shouts of “free bird!!!!!!” from both men watching in admiration as their new friend flew away into safety.
This incredible tale has touched millions of hearts around world and many viewers wanted to know if Galdieri had seen the owl since or how exactly they got him from swaying precariously on a rod to cuddled calmly in a blanket – all within such a short time frame.
One person described this rescue mission as an example of wholesome masculinity while another joked “I think your brother was just accepted into Hogwarts” Some even called this experience evidence of an ‘owl distribution system’ at work over seas!
