Could This Be the Best Fishing Video of the Year?

While it’s true that there are multiple different ways one can catch a fish, most of us are accustomed to using a standard fishing rod. Now imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this video online that shows a young boy’s method of capturing food for his family. And when you see it, you’ll understand why the video has gone viral.

Despite all the fancy lures, lines, and rods we use to fish today, many of us still don’t have much luck catching dinner. That’s why the story of a young boy who managed to catch dinner with little more than plastic bottles and string is so inspiring – it proves that necessity breeds invention.

Posted on YouTube by Pro Fish Hunter, this 8-minute clip quickly went viral and has been called “the best fishing video”.

As soon as viewers watch the clip they can tell this isn’t your typical fishing trip. Instead of branded and expensive angling equipment, the young boy prepares his makeshift lure with some kind of dough putty as bait (according to Shareably). He then walks to the edge of the river where he plants reeds before unspooling his fishing line from two plastic soda bottles which he places onto sticks for stability.

After skillfully hurls his baited lines into the water, he leaves it alone for three hours before returning full of anticipation. To our amazement (and likely his own) when he returns there is an incredibly impressive haul waiting for him in one bottle – nearly enough fish to feed himself plus two other people.

Viewers were truly inspired by this incredible feat accomplished by such a small child utilizing such simple tools. Not only did they admire his innovative technique but also praised him for displaying amazing dexterity, instinct and discipline – something not expected from someone so young.

Many viewers expressed their admiration in comments like “At such a young age he is already a great fisherman and has incredible strength” or “I know he will go far in life” further proving that children are often more capable than we give them credit for.
