Breaking: Multiple Shark Attacks in a Single Day [Video]
As someone who lives in Florida, I have to say that I love it here simply for the myriad of things that you can do outdoors.
Great state for boating, and a damn fine state for fishing.
However, one thing that might surprise you is that despite living in a state that is surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches in the world I rarely go into the ocean.
When I do, I go maybe up to my waist and it’s a bit of a struggle to get me to go that deep. The reason is simple.
I am fearful of sharks. Ever since I first watched Jaws as a little kid I have been worried sick about getting eaten by a shark.
Why, you ask? Well, there’s not a whole heck of a lot you can do to stop a shark once they start chewing.
I mean, it’s not really their fault. When you really get down to it, we’re the runs invading their space.
Really, have you ever seen a shark break into someone’s house and make themselves at home?
No, you haven’t. But we make our ways to the beaches or this country every summer by the millions.
Every once in a great while there will be someone that ends up getting bitten by a shark.
Sometimes it is a relatively small nibble, at least by shark standards.
Sometimes a whole limb or more gets taken and the attack victim survives, and sometimes you see the person go under and they just never come back up again.
Recently in Florida, something happened that doesn’t happen all that often. There were three separate shark attacks that took place within a couple of hours of each other.
The first one involved a woman that ended up losing her arm to a shark attack, and then two teenagers were attacked a little ways down the beach.
This all happened within a very narrow stretch of beach.
I hate to say that my fears were confirmed, but it’s definitely something that isn’t exactly prompting me to get into the ocean anytime soon.
If you do go into the ocean in an area where sharks are known to prowl, take every precaution available to you to maintain your safety.
