Breaking News: MONSTER Marlin Caught
Growing up in North Carolina, my dad would always tell me that one day I am going to catch a marlin bigger than I was.
I mean, I appreciate his sentiment and his confidence in me as a fisherman.
Catching one that is the size of a person is basically some Moby Dick level stuff.
That and I can’t say that I exactly have the kind of money that you would need to sink into doing something like that.
I’m more of a hobbyist when it comes to my fishing. I spend a couple of days a week with a line in the water, but I can’t exactly go out and buy masses of equipment.
I’d love to compete in a fishing tournament, but life just gets in the way of that sort of thing.
That doesn’t mean that I am don’t follow the various fishing tournaments across the United States.
I haven’t lived in the Carolinas for a long time, but I still keep up on what’s good when it comes to fishing around the area.
One that I pay particular attention to is the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.
Something happened during this tournament that I am totally astounded by.
Aboard a vessel called “Release”, a team brought in a blue marlin that weighs in at a staggering five hundred and four pounds.
They caught a fish that is the same weight as most active sumo wrestlers.
Now granted, it did take a fifty three foot long boat to accommodate reeling the thing in. Never having gone after something that massive I can imagine my little fishing boat splitting in half trying to even look at a picture of a five hundred pound fish on my phone.
The team that caught this absolute monster have been working together for over twenty years and I would have to say that’s the level of experience that it would take to capture a blue marlin the size of Andre the Giant.
Then again, the nearly two million dollar prize that they won as a result of catching this giant of a fish is definitely enough inspiration to do anything for twenty years.
