He Was Caught Cheating At Fishing, Then He Went On The Run…

cheat

If there is one thing in this world that I hate with a passion, it is a cheat.

If I am in a competition with someone and they win through fair means, I have no problem with saying that they are the better person.

If they somehow managed to outsmart me with, I have no problem with that. A cheat, however, is the lowest form of life I can think of.

The idea of someone cheating at a competition is such a strange concept to me, given the way I was brought up. The idea that someone would try to rig a competition just screams blatant disregard for the hard work that everyone else put into a competition.

Now, I am not exactly what you would call a competitive angler. That being said, I get the people that do it and they take it as seriously as anyone in any other sport. Especially if there is money on the line, people better take it seriously.

The thing that people in competitions also have to understand if that there is the chance that someone would be better than you on that day. Sometimes those people get away with it, and sometimes they end up behind bars.

Recently in Louisiana, the Department of Wildlife was notified of a contestant during the Big Bass Splash stuffing his fish with lead weights prior to the weight in. The contestant was found having stuffed over two and a half pounds of lead weights into the mouth of one fish.

When he was found out to have cheated, Aaron Moreau fled the scene but later turned himself in as soon as he learned that there was a warrant for his arrest.

Now, why all of the running once he was caught? You might think on the surface that it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.

In Louisiana, they take their fishing quite seriously and there is a law on the books in that state making fishing contest fraud punishable by a year and jail and a fine of up to three thousand dollars.

I can’t imagine what would possess someone to want to cheat at a fishing competition. I mean, it’s not like the judges didn’t find this guy out immediately anyway.
