Magnet Fishing Trip Leads To HUGE Money Find

When I was a kid and would be out on the water fishing with my dad, I always assumed that the bottom of the river or lake we were fishing on had sunken treasure down there.

Of course, I was wrong. Despite what movies and television taught me as a young child, I never did find the sunken treasure from all the pirate movies of my youth.

That being said, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t things on the bottom. They are just really hard to find because, well, there’s a lot of space between us and the bottom of a body of water.

And not exactly a whole lot of oxygen. I mean, you could put on a scuba tank and gear to take a swim down to the bottom of a body of water to see if your sunken treasure is really down there.

However, that would cost a heck of a lot of money. Or you could just get a big magnet and tie a rope to it.

For those of you that are unaware, there is an activity called magnet fishing where you are basically doing the same thing as traditional fishing with one key difference.

You aren’t looking for bass or salmon. You’re looking for anything that is metal that can be hauled up with a magnet.

For decades, and even up until today, people either dispose of or flat out lose things that are made of metal in bodies of water.

Can’t begin to tell you how many cars have probably been sunk to the bottom of a lake.

Or someone’s safe.

Recently a couple in New York City were magnet fishing using a rope for their fishing line and a pretty powerful magnet.

They cast their line into a stream and ended up pulling out a relatively small safe. They were pretty well surprised to say the least.

It’s not every day that someone pulls a safe out of the water. They got the safe onto dry land and managed to get the thing open. Inside was a hundred thousand dollars cash. Now, the money was in pretty bad shape having been in the water for who knows how long.

They are presently attempting to see if the money can be salvaged or recovered.

They’ve apparently discovered all kinds of things from the water, including several guns, one grenade, and even a full sized motorcycle. Sounds like a good catch all around.
