One of the Best Kept Secret Fishing Spots in America
We all have our own private fishing holes that we don’t tell anyone about.
Shoot, sometimes we protect their secrecy even from our own families.
Give you an example, one of my uncles would take me fishing when I was growing up. He would take me to the same three or four different spots for years.
Then one day, when I was home on leave from the military, he offered to take me fishing for the day. Jumping at the chance to spend all day staring out at nothing, I said yes.
I figured that he would be taking me to one of the spots that we would go to as kids. Instead, he took me to a spot that I had never been to before. I figured it was just a try something different sort of day.
Nope, it was a spot that he had been going to for years. As long as he’d been taking me fishing at least.
It was an amazing day of fishing. Caught so many fish I could have opened up a grocery store.
On the way home, we stopped at a little roadside diner and we were talking about the day’s events. I talked about how great the spot was, and how I can’t believe he never took me there before.
He told me that it was his secret fishing spot that he never told anyone about. He also went on to say that if he had taken me when I was a kid I wouldn’t have understood to keep my mouth shut about it.
His final word on the matter got me, “If the government can trust you with their secrets, I can trust you to keep this fishing hole a secret.” To this day, I have never told anyone about it beyond what I just said.
But I will tell you one of mine, since it seems the secret is out anyway. Clendening Lake in Ohio is one of the best fishing spots that I have ever had the pleasure of casting a line into. First of all, it’s an absolutely beautiful spot.
Second, not a whole heck of a lot of people know about it so you’ll be able to get out there and have a pretty good time out on the water.
We all deserve our own private little fishing spot. Hopefully if you get to Clendening Lake you will find yours.
