Rare Fish Washes Ashore [Look]

Oregon is one of the many places in the United States that you would be able to classify as a paradise for those who are into the outdoors.

I recently spent a few days on a cross-country camping trip in Oregon and I have to say it is some of the most amazing scenery I have ever seen in my life.

Added to that, the fishing was amazing. There are definitely some species of fish that I had never seen in my travels before in the Midwest.

It is always going to be a surprise when you see something that you have never seen before.

That’s one of the fun things about going on a vacation. That being said, when the locals see something pop up that they have never seen before; that’s definitely something else entirely.

One thing that a lot of folks probably do not realize is that there are fish that live at depths that you couldn’t possibly imagine surviving in.

The angler fish is one of them. It is a species of fish that lives at somewhere around the 2,000 to 3,000 foot range.

It also has the most amazing characteristics. It has its own flashlight. Imagine if you will a creature that has evolved into having what is a headlamp like you’d use walking at night built into its body.

They use this light to attract prey and while these fish are very strange looking, one would have to say that they are good at attracting prey; because at several thousand feet down the last thing another fish is assuming they are going to see is a light of any kind.

They also aren’t frequent visitors to Oregon, until now.

Recently an angler fish has washed up on the shores of Oregon for what experts believe to be the first time ever in recorded history.

The closest you will see an angler fish in the water will be near the California coast but this is the first time one has been spotted anywhere near Oregon.

I can only imagine being the person that spotted this thing on the beach. I mean, it’s not that often that you see an animal with a flashlight on its head.
